His appointment is part of EFD Studios' expansion and innovation strategy, as the company announced the construction of virtual production stages in Madrid and Mexico City in 2024.
The Madrid studio, located in Boadilla del Monte, is set to be the largest in Europe and will be operational in September of this year, and the Mexico City studio will be one of the biggest and best-equipped in Latin America. These infrastructures are part of the company's strategy to maintain worldwide serviceability - cementing EFD Studios’ leadership in the provision of world-class technologies for audiovisual production while keeping its sharp focus on the great value and benefits of filming in real locations.
Mauricio has over 20 years of experience in the audiovisual industry, having worked in key hubs such as Los Angeles, London, Mexico City, Vancouver and Mumbai. His profile is deeply multicultural, with a solid technical background and a track record ranging from set and studio production to post-production and visual effects. Over the years he worked as a VFX artist, instructor and production manager, which has allowed him to acquire a detailed understanding of the technical challenges of each project and to lead international teams with an empathetic, collaborative and results-oriented approach.
In his most recent position, he worked as Virtual Production On-Set Producer at Pixomondo, a Sony Pictures company, where he was involved in high-profile international projects and contributed to the development of new solutions in virtual production. Among his achievements, he successfully coordinated a project for Amazon Studios that used the largest fine-pitch LED volume for virtual production in Latin America by the end of 2023.
Throughout his career, Mauricio has been involved in globally successful franchises such as "Star Wars," "Harry Potter" and "Stranger Things," as well as outstanding productions such as "Wonder Woman," "Every Minute Counts," "Men in Black 3," "The Chronicles of Narnia," "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "Huesera: The Bone Woman." His vision combines technical knowledge with effective communication, negotiation skills and a strong focus on innovation, elements that strengthen EFD Studios' strategic approach in all stages of the audiovisual process.
With this new addition, EFD Studios consolidates its leadership in the regions in which it operates and reinforces its commitment to excellence, technology and the development of specialized talent in an industry in constant transformation.
