Mediawan Rights has acquired the international distribution rights for the first Swedish-Finnish SkyShowtime Original Series "Codename: Annika", representing the title and making it available outside of SkyShowtime’s markets.

"Codename: Annika" follows Emma Haka, played by actress Sannah Nedergård, a Finnish investigator specializing in art crime. She infiltrates an art auction in Stockholm during an undercover mission that proves more dangerous than expected. As a result, she takes on the wild and fiery alias of Annika Stormare. When the investigation takes Emma deeper into the underworld, lines start to blur between her and Annika – who was once alive and left a tangled web of mysteries in her wake.

Valérie Vleeschhouwer, Managing Director of Mediawan Rights, says: "We are proud to add this SkyShowtime Original Series to our distribution line-up, enriching Mediawan Rights' catalogue and strengthening our international development strategy. With a distinctive aesthetic, captivating storytelling and a strong female leading role, we are convinced that this high-end series will meet current market expectations worldwide."

"Codename: Annika" is a six-part series, created by Mia Ylönen and Aleksi Bardy, and produced by Helsinki Filmi. By taking on distribution of "Codename: Annika" outside of SkyShowtime’s footprint, and within existing markets offering second window rights, Mediawan Rights continues to establish itself as a leading distributor of ambitious content.

Kai Finke, Chief Content Officer, SkyShowtime, says: “Our partnership with Mediawan Rights marks our first distribution deal and highlights the strength and caliber of SkyShowtime Original Series, as well as the demand for our original programming worldwide.”
