MIPTV 2023: Abacus Media Rights secures global sales for "The Frontier"

Abacus Media Rights has confirmed sales of high-end factual series "The Frontier" in time for MipTV 2023. “We are delighted to announce sales of The Frontier and we can’t wait to share first look material from Conquistadors with our clients in Cannes,"   "These two series from our friends at Dash Pictures and Night Train Media deliver the highest quality, authoritative historical content available today taking viewers on amazing real-life journeys back in time.” 

Financed by Amcomri Productions and created and produced by Emmy nominated Daniel Sharp, Founder and Executive Producer, Dash Pictures, "The Frontier" has been sold to Channel 5 in the UK and Northern Ireland, RTE in Ireland, SBS in Australia, Viasat World in the Baltics, CEE, Scandinavia and CIS, YLE in Finland, SVT in Sweden, NRK in Norway and VRT in Belgium. The executive producers contributing on behalf of Dash Pictures are Daniel Sharpand Anna O’Malley for NTM Herbert L. Kloiber and James Copp.

Narrated by Native American actor Dan Warrior, "The Frontier" explores the legends, events and folklore of the American frontier which have embedded themselves into American culture so much so that the Old West, especially the Western genre of films, has become one of the defining periods of American national identity. The title features characters from the Frontier Wild Bill Hickok (James Butler Hickok), Wyatt and Virgil Earp (Virgil Walter Earp) and "Buffalo Bill" (William Frederick "Buffalo Bill" Cody). 

"Conquistadors: The Rise and Fall" begins with the accidental discovery of the Americas by Christopher Columbus which ignited an era of exploration for the Spanish empire and marked a turning point in world history. Upon Columbus' return voyage to the Americas, he discovers that the Spanish left behind at Hispaniola had been killed by the indigenous Taíno, sparking a brutal chain of colonisation throughout the Caribbean. What follows is theambition of Hernán Cortés, who traveled deep into the Mexican interior to conquer one of the great empires in the Americas: the Aztecs, establishing the subjugation and submersion of indigenous populations.
