Mere days before the merger deal between Viacom and CBS takes place on December 4th, CBS’ subscription video platform CBS All Access, started including children's programming from Viacom’s Nickelodeon. A formal announcement was made on Monday, November 25th, just when kids content like Danger Mouse and Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs began streaming on the platform.
Kids shows have emerged as a top priority for CBS All Access, its library is expected to grow to more than 1,000 episodes as additional series are added over the coming weeks. In a larger sense, other streaming services like Disney + have massive content catalogs tailored for kids, and Apple TV+ and HBO Max are teaming up with well-known children’s content creators behind shows like Peanuts, Sesame Workshop, and Sesame Street, respectively.
Other Viacom-owned content that could make its way to CBS All Access sooner than later are shows from Comedy Central, MTV, and BET, which will for sure build up a wider audience for the said platform in 2020.
