October Films appoints Mohammed Adnan as Head of Development, US

The executive takes on the role as the company works to grow its presence on streamers and platforms in North America.

October Films has appointed Mohammed Adnan to the role of Head of Development, US as the company ramps up growth for streamers and platforms in North America. “Adnan is a potent creative force with an outstanding track record in the development of ideas that turn heads and deliver insight," Matt Robins, Creative Director, October Films said. "He is also a warm hearted and collegiate soul, and we are delighted to have him leading our team in New York.” 

The appointment forms part of October's effort to expand its operational and creative presence in the  US premium unscripted market over the past year and a half. The company has a co-production partnership with Octavia Spencer’s ORIT Entertainment, producing two true crime series, "Highway 20" and "FEDS" for Warner Bros Discovery. The company recently confirmed a high-profile Netflix series based on access to a global institution as well as multiple projects for other networks and streamers. The company also expanded with a new office in Los Angeles to further support its long-term relationships with buyers and creative partners in the US.

Prior to joining October, Adnan, based in New York City, served as Global Head of Development at Pulse Films, where he was responsible for overseeing the company’s Non-Fiction arm in the US, UK and Europe.  He is credited with contributing to the Emmy Award-nominated "Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return To Hogwarts" for HBO Max, "Inside Missguided" for Channel 4, "Hair Power: Me and My Afro" for Channel 4, the upcoming premium three-part series "Max Verstappen - Anatomy Of A Champion" for Viaplayand an upcoming ESPN 30 for 30 film. 

Throughout his career, Adnan has helped developed various documentary, reality and entertainment titles, which include credits like "Who Should Get To Stay In The UK?" for BBC Two, "Desi Rascals" for Sky and "Don’t Scream" for BBC Three."October's reputation for premium limited series and returning brands is truly exceptional, and I am thrilled to be a part of it," Mohammed Adnan, Head of Development, US said.
