Canadian company Portfolio Entertainment has secured global distribution rights to the new comedy series “Decoys” (6x15’), which it is launching at this year’s MIPTV. Produced by Counterfeit Pictures for CBC Gem, the show was created and written by David Pelech.

The mockumentary style series, deeply rooted in fact, takes its inspiration from acclaimed precursors such as “Best In Show”. “Decoys” lifts the veil on the cut-throat, winner-take-all sub-culture of competitive wooden duck carving. The six-part series launched on CBC Gem in July 2020 to rave reviews.

While “Decoys” follows small-town folks with big hearts and oversized dreams as they come face-to-face for an annual competition of wit, talent, and saw dust, each competitor has their own reason for getting into the game. Some amateurs, some seasoned veterans, the competitors all demonstrate grit, artistry and a touch of vulnerability whist showing the world that duck carving is a force to be reckoned with.

“‘Decoys’ is the perfect complement to our roster as we continue our expansion into primetime comedy and premium scripted content. This eccentric cast of characters who refuse to let any adversity stand between themselves and their dreams will surely resonate with audiences around the world and keep them laughing along the way,”  said Donnie MacIntyre, Vice President of Sales and Business Development at Portfolio Entertainment.
