Toronto-based Serial Maven Studios has secured worldwide distribution rights to the animated children's series "Chums," commissioned by APTN, Citytv Saskatchewan, and Ontario French-language network TFO in Canada. The studio will handle all distribution outside of the commissioning partners and will be offering the series to buyers across all platforms following this year’s Kidscreen Summit.

The title is produced by Chums Media Inc., a new animation studio in the Canadian Prairies, with an Indigenous creative team and cast from Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The series is written by Eric and Dennis Jackson, alongside Justina Neepin, directed by Dennis Jackson, and produced by Eric Jackson of Paxolotl Media. Leslea Mair of Zoot Pictures serves as executive producer, with Stephanie Boulet as art director and Frank Digital responsible for tech design.

The first two seasons (18×22′) of the series, produced by Saskatoon-based Paxolotl Media, Winnipeg-based Zoot Pictures, and Chums Media, have been licensed by National Indigenous Television and SBS in Australia. A third season (9×22′) is currently in production.

In Canada, "Chums" has been greenlit for three seasons by its broadcast partners, APTN, Citytv Saskatchewan, and TFO. Season 2 is set to premiere on APTN on May 10, airing in English as well as in Anishinaabemowin and Cree on APTN Languages. With continued support from these networks, the series is positioned for a successful run, further expanding its reach and impact within Canada’s diverse Indigenous communities and beyond.
