Sphere Abacus sold 200 hours of content across Central and Eastern Europe

Sphere Abacus licenses a 200-hour slate to top broadcasters across CEE, including deals with DOX TV, Czech TV, HRT, and Viasat World for acclaimed factual titles like "Leaving Neverland," "Travels with Agatha Christie & Sir David Suchet," and "Maxine," ahead of NEM Dubrovnik.

Ahead of the NEM Market in Dubrovnik, leading UK-based distributor Sphere Abacus (SA) announced sales of 200 hours of its diverse programming to leading platforms and broadcasters across multiple CEE territories.

In a line-up of significant deals brokered by SA Sales Director Ros Ali, DOX TV has acquired a raft of programmes for its platform across Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia and Kosovo. These include award- winning AMOS Pictures’ "Leaving Neverland," "Leaving Neverland 2: Surviving Michael Jackson" and "One Day in October," true crime documentaries "The Man Who Stole the Scream," "Breaking Dad: Britain’s Unlikeliest Drug Dealer" and "Vanished: The Lucie Blackman Mystery," plus true crime docu-series "Millionaire Murders," "Murder: Fight for the Truth," "Bloodline Detectives" (seasons 4 to 6 – and a re-license of seasons 1 and 2) and season 1 of "Making a Serial Killer." Also included are Emmy Award winning Hardcash Productions’ "Kingdom Uncovered: Inside Saudi Arabia," the Emmy nominated documentary "Israel-Gaza: Into the Abyss" from Emmy Award winning Top Hat Productions and Sphere Media’s exposé "Monkey on a Stick: Murder," "Madness and the Hare Krishnas." Finishing off the deal are feature documentary "Dogs of War" produced by Two Rivers Media and factual series "Tony Robinson’s Marvellous Machines."

Czech TV (Czech Republic) has acquired the high-end documentary series "Travels with Agatha Christie & Sir David Suchet" featuring the legendary Poirot actor’s expedition which spanned Canada, Hawaii, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia.

Meanwhile, HRT in Croatia has also acquired "Travels with Agatha Christie & Sir David Suchet," plus Ben Fogle’s "Race for the Nile," ground-breaking series "Secret World of Sound" with David Attenborough, exclusive behind-the-scenes docu-series "Blenheim: Britain’s Greatest Palace" and the compelling documentary "Twitter: Breaking the Bird."

A deal with international broadcaster, Viasat World, sees sales of Clapperboard Studios’ true crime drama "Maxine" for distribution for Viasat True Crime in the Baltics, CEE and CIS (excluding Belarus), and BriteSpark Films’ "Titanic: Secrets of the Shipwreck" for the Baltics, CEE (excluding Poland), CIS (excluding Belarus) and Scandinavia, as well as FirstLookTV’s six-part history series "Killer Kings," both for Viasat History, and Fredbird Entertainment’s "Aussie Road Train Truckers" for Viasat Explore for distribution in the Baltics, CEE, CIS (excluding Belarus) and Scandinavia.

Other titles being showcased at NEM 2025 include drama series "The Family Next Door" (6 x one hour), "The Game" (4 x one hour), Scrublands: Silver (4 x one hour), Small Achievable Goals (8 x half hours), Safehaven (10 x one hour), Implosion: The Titanic Sub Disaster (1 x one hour or 1 x 85-minutes), The Forgotten Nazi Occupation (2 x one hour), Gary Barlow’s Wine Tour: Australia (6 x one hour), Special Forces: Most Daring Missions (3 x one hour) and Britain’s Countryside Killers (10 x one hour).
