TelevisaUnivision unveils plans for first-ever production, “Tu Cara Me Suena”

Following a successful run that captivated the attention of 10 million viewers on Univision between October and November of 2020, the show will soon air in Mexico.

TelevisaUnivision unveiled plans for its first production after the completion of the merger between Univision and Televisa’s content business. The title, “Tu Cara Me Suena,"is set to return, and will now simultaneously air in Mexico.“It is an exciting time at TelevisionUnivision as we present a new season of the hit reality competition “Tu Cara Me Suena,” our first-ever simultaneous broadcast in the U.S. and Mexico,” said Luis Silberwasser, President, TelevisaUnivision US Networks Group. “''Tu Cara Me Suena will be the first of many exciting new productions that we have in the pipeline for this year. We are focused on delivering live programming that brings the most engaging and entertaining content to our audience.”

“Tu Cara Me Suena,” translated to "Your Face Sounds Familiar," reached more than 10 million viewers during its first season run on 4 October 2020 to 29 November on Univision. The show was the No.1 entertainment program on all of television, regardless of language, for the entire day on Sunday with U.S. Hispanic Adult 18-49 viewers during its first season run.

Produced in the U.S., the new season of the popular reality competition is the first program by the newly formed company, and will air simultaneously in the U.S. and Mexico. Rafael Araneda, host of UNIMÁS’ hit reality show “Enamorándonos” will join actress Ana Brenda Contreras  as hosts of the second season. “We are bringing back an all-new edition of the fan-favorite reality competition ‘Tu Cara Me Suena,’ to our highly successful ‘Domingos en Familia’ timeslot,” said Ignacio Meyer, EVP, Music and Non-Scripted Entertainment, TelevisaUnivision. “With Rafa and Ana Brenda returning as hosts, this new iteration will delight our viewers with special surprises and new stars joining the competition.”

With a focus on music, “Tu Cara Me Suena” returns to Univision’s “Domingos en Familia” programming slate. The second season features brand new entertainment, surprising transformations, and jaw-dropping performances by a star-studded cast. Popular celebrity contestants will also contribute their musical talents.  Undergoing extreme makeovers in order to sing live, the contestants will impersonate performers and put on a show for a charity of their choice.
