Woodcut International has partnered with The Rob Knox Foundation to launch a documentary surrounding the murder of Harry Potter actor Robert Knox. "'We at the Rob Knox Foundation are extremely happy to be partnering with Woodcut International and look forward to our journey together," Aaron Truss, Director, Executive Producer, The Rob Knox Foundation said. "Not only have Woodcut been involved with some great documentaries like Damilola: Death of a Ten Year Old, but they also understand the need for a film like this in today's society. Knife crime especially in the UK is worse than ever, so we hope that this film will make an impact on people's attitudes towards this horrific culture."
Directed by Aaron Truss and produced by The Rob Knox Foundation (Colin Knox) and Nick Kenton, the title was put together by Executive Producers Aaron Truss and Joe Acres. Koulla Anastasi also served as executive producer on behalf of Woodcut International. The partnership sees Woodcut International team up as executive producer and worldwide TV distributor for (K)nox: "The Rob Knox Story."
In 2008, 18-year-old Rob Knox was stabbed to death just days after filming his breakthrough role as Marcus Belby in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. As a rising star, his death made headline news, and stirred a wake-up call to address these types of crimes. However, years later, knife crime remains a serious issue not only in the UK but across the globe.
The film takes a closer look into Rob's life and the trail of events that lead up to his untimely death. This title features interviews with family members, friends and Harry Potter cast such as Jim Broadbent, Ray Winstone, Tom Felton, David Yates, Dani Harmer and Blake Harrison, including archive interviews with Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson. "It's a privilege to be involved with this extraordinary documentary," Commercial Director, Woodcut International, Anastasi, said. "This film pays homage to a young man whose legacy has shone a light on knife crime, and his fame in the Harry Potter movie has created a unique vehicle to draw attention to the soul destroying impact crimes of this nature have on so many lives."
