ZDF Enterprises has announced sales of the three-part drama “Bella Germania” (3x90’) to broadcasters across Europe. A ZDF/ZDF Enterprises co-production, the series was produced by Bavaria Fiction.
The German-Italian story spanning three generations of a family has been licensed by public broadcasters RAI (Italy), RTVS (Slovakia), LTV (Latvia), TVP (Poland), and RTVE (Spain), where it recently aired earning top ratings with a 12.43% market share and scoring even higher with female viewers (14.55%). Other sales include national broadcasters Inter (Ukraine), Network 4 (Hungary), and Russian Report TV Agency, which distribute across Russia and CIS.

The heartfelt story of love, passion, family secrets and revenge begins when a young Italian fashion designer is intrigued by elderly German who introduces himself as her grandfather and claims that her real father is still alive. A family history of which she knew nothing about begins to unfold going back to the time of the German “Wirtschaftswunder” (Miracle on the Rhine).
“Bella Germania” was created by Daniel Speck, the award-winning TV and film screenwriter and best-selling novelist whose works include “Jaffa Road” and “Anywhere But Home,” amongst many others. Directed by Gregor Schnitzier, the cast featured an array of top Italian and German acting talent.
