A recent report released by MediaPost revealed that the US ad economy contracted last month, leading to a 7.3% decline. Small advertisers greatly contributed to the declines at 13.7%, while the top 10 ad categories declines by 3.0%.

The data, pulled from the researcher’s Standard Media Index’s U.S Ad Market Tracker, also reflected declines in January and February, which followed noted growth towards the end of 2020 as the impact of the pandemic subsided.

The decline compares to last year's figures, though the February 2020 was considered the last normal month for the market as it was before the declaration of the pandemic, reflecting various shutdwons.

This month's data results will compare with the first month of ad recession that occured last March, when the pandemic was declared worldwide.
