Disney+ confirms several new original titles for the UK and Ireland in 2023

The Walt Disney Company has confirmed several new original titles which are set to premiere exclusively on Disney+ in the UK and Ireland later this year. The content slate includes titles from Marvel, Lucasfilm, Pixar, National Geographic, and Disney Branded Television.

Among local originals are documentary “Wagatha Christie” (working title), with Coleen Rooney, and “The Full Monty,” a follow-up to the 1997 feature film of the same name, which will debut on June 14. Other UK originals include dark comedy “Culprits” and “Brawn: The Impossible Formula 1 Story” (working title), a British sporting story told by Keanu Reeves.

Meanwhile, EMEA originals include animated sci-fi anthology “Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire,” coming July 5, telling stories from creators across Zimbabwe, Uganda, South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, and Egypt, plus Italian series “Lions of Sicily,” based on Stefania Auci’s novel “The Florios of Sicily.”

At the same time, comedy film “Miguel Wants to Fight,” about a high school senior who encounters a series of hilarious misadventures as he tries to get into his first ever fight, will also join the service in August. “Secrets & Sisterhood: The Sozahdahs,” which follows ten Muslim American sisters whose faith and bonds are put to the ultimate test while trying to navigate cultural expectations, their careers and love in Los Angeles; and “The Jewel Thief,” a firsthand account of Gerald Blanchard, one of the most accomplished criminal masterminds in modern history, are also on the 2023 slate.

Moreover, returning series include FX’s “The Bear,” which will be back for a second season set in the kitchen of a Chicago sandwich shop, and fellow FX show, docuseries “Welcome To Wrexham,” which will also be back for season two. Comedic murder-mystery series “Only Murders In The Building” is also returning for a third season on August 8.

Adding to Disney+’s major scripted franchises are season two of Marvel adventure “Loki” which will debut on October 6, while “Echo,” a spin-off from 2021 Disney+ series “Hawkeye,” telling the origin story of Maya Lopez, will arrive on October 29. Furthermore, “Ahsoka,” the latest Disney+ Star Wars series, will launch on the platform in August, spinning out of “The Mandalorian” and “The Book Of Boba Fett,” and following the former Jedi knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.
