Max has set streaming premiere dates for two big A24 titles. Alex Garland’s "Civil War" will begin streaming on the service on September 13th, 2024, and Jane Schoenbrun’s "I saw the TV glow" will stream on September 20th, 2024. The films come to HBO and Max through A24’s exclusive multiyear pay-one output agreement announced in December, following the expiration of its deal with Showtime.
"Civil War" stars Kirsten Dunst, Wagner Moura, Cailee Spaeny, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Sonoya Mizuno, and Nick Offerman. The plot follows a team of war journalists traveling from New York City to Washington, D.C. during a civil war fought across the United States between a despotic federal government and secessionist movements, to interview the President before rebels take the capital city.
Meanwhile, "I Saw the TV Glow stars" Justice Smith and Brigette Lundy-Paine as two troubled high school students whose connection to their favorite television show drives them to question their reality and identities. The supporting cast includes Helena Howard, Lindsey Jordan, Conner O'Malley, Emma Portner, Ian Foreman, Fred Durst, and Danielle Deadwyler.
