Web3 video streaming platform myco, (formerly MContent) have reported significant increase in engagement and viewership after successfully streaming the "India v Bangladesh" bilateral cricket series. This was the first time a web3 streaming provider has secured an opportunity to exclusively stream a sports event of such importance.

myco secured exclusive streaming rights in the MENA region, giving over 17 million Indian and Bangladeshi expat cricket lovers a smooth and high quality stream alongside earning MContent tokens for the time they spent watching.

myco achieved a 1,200% increase in new users across the series compared to the 30 days prior, alongside a 431% increase in views and 344% increase in engaged sessions. These increases meant that MContent tokens worth approximately $26,250 were rewarded to viewers from ad revenue they secured from advertisers and sponsors such as Decathlon, Mentos and GAC Motor during the series. Having proved the model works with a live event, myco are now actively looking for, and in discussions, to secure more live sports and event content rights not only for MENA but further afield.

COO Somair Rizvi, said "We are thrilled to announce our entry into the world of live sports streaming with the India tour of Bangladesh series on myco as the first to many more sports events that will be streamed live on our platform. Our special thanks to the teams at ITW who enabled us to acquire exclusive rights for the series and for their technical expertise that made it a smooth streaming experience for our users.”

Vivek Chandra, Director and Head of Business at ITW MEA, said “Meeting myco on completely different aspect we recognised we share the same synergy and craving to challenge existing content consumption. We decided to move away from traditional broadcasters and offered myco to carry Live matches of India tour of Bangladesh on their platform as we were excited about the fact that myco as a platform had created a gratification-based fan engagement utilizing the Web3/Blockchain technology. The success of this event is for everyone to appraise and we are excited to partner with myco for future events as well.”

myco recently launched the series "The Blockchain Life" on the platform and commissioned Decrypt Studios to produce feature-length, must-see documentary on the rise and fall of FTX and its founder Sam Bankman-Fried. They also secured a ‘First Look’ partnership with The Bridge to build relationships with Southeast Asian creatives and engage with Asian viewers, simultaneously announcing a $100,000 fund dedicated to filmmaking in the region. In October 2022, they secured 54 hours of factual programming from Expresso Media International and in November, 50 hours of content from Singapore-based Allrites.
