NBCuniversal has appointed former Hulu chief Kelly Campbell to serve as the President of Peacock.The LA_based executive will join the leadership team starting in November.“On the heels of Peacock’s success in its first year, we are thrilled to bring Kelly’s leadership and expertise to the team as we continue to accelerate Peacock’s vision and strategy,” said Matt Strauss, Chairman of direct-to-consumer and international at NBCUniversal, to whom Campbell will report.
Just a few days after departing from Hulu, Campbell is set to replace Gidon Katz, who resigned as NBCU’s president of direct-to-consumer a wekk ago. She will be responsible for Peacock’s streaming business, working alongside its leadership across NBCUniversal television, film, news and sports on Peacock live and original programming. Campbell will report to Matt Strauss, NBCU’s chairman, direct-to-consumer and international.
Campbell had been with Hulu for four years, and President for one. During its most recent quarterly earnings, NBCU said Peacock has reached 54 million signups and 20 million monthly active accounts. The overall signup tally is up from the 42 million subscribers that the company reported its fledgling streaming service had reached by the end of March. The service hopes to have 35 million subscribers by the end of 2024.
Campbell joined Hulu in 2017 as chief marketing officer, after a 12-year stint in a variety of roles at Google, across its Ads and Cloud divisions. Herv appointment derived directly from Kelly's departure.
