PEACOCK ANNOUNCES THE FIRST ORIGINAL SERIES FOR JULY'S USA LAUNCH

Asides from hundred of original series and popular movies, the Peacock app will also feature daily programming highlights from current season programming of 75 streaming channels from NBC and Telemundo.

NBCUniversal’s new streaming service, Peacock announced the original content that will be available for streaming on 15 July 2020, when the service launches nationally. Peacock Premium customers can stream the first season episodes of “Brave New World,” “The Capture,” “Intelligence” and “Lost Speedways,” Sports documentary “In Deep with Ryan Lochte,” and the entire full-length film, “Psych 2: Lassie Come Home” on 15 July. Peacock Kids will also stream new content, such as Curious George and two original series from DreamWorks Animation; “Cleopatra in Space” and “Where’s Waldo?.” Content premiere dates will be announced later this year. “Our variety of Peacock Originals at launch demonstrates how we deliver timely and timeless content, no matter the genre or format,” said Bill McGoldrick, President of Original Content, Peacock. “We’re proud to establish our voice and are excited to build on our strategy to attract a wide audience to Peacock.”

The Peacock app will also feature daily programming highlights from TODAY, NBC Nightly News, Meet the Press, Noticias Telemundo, MSNBC, CNBC, NBC Sports, E! News and Access Hollywood, and 75 other streaming channels, including clip-based channels like the best Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers comedy sketches, along with news channels from NBC News Now and Sky News, and genre channels. Content will be accessible in July on peacocktv.com or across mobile and connected TV platforms with the Peacock app. In addition to current season programming from NBC and Telemundo, Peacock customers will have access to hundreds of popular movies like the Jurassic Park franchise, E.T., “Meet the Parents,” and “Shrek.” Comedies such as “Parks and Recreation,” “30 Rock,” “Saturday Night Live,” “King of Queens,” “Everybody Loves Raymond,” “Two and a Half Men,” “Frasier,” “George Lopez,” and “Cheers.”  Dramas include “Law & Order: SVU,” “Downton Abbey,” “Yellowstone,” “Friday Night Lights,” “House,” “Battlestar Galactica,” “Psych,” “Parenthood,” “Monk,” “Heroes.” Along with its original content, the platform’s library will continue to grow. 

Based on Aldous Huxley’s novel, “Brave New World” demonstrates a utopian society that has achieved peace and stability through the means of banning monogamy, privacy, money, family, and history itself. John arrives in New World and soon threatened to disrupt its utopian harmony, leaving Bernard and Lenina to grapple with the repercussions. In association with Amblin Television from UCP, the series is executive produced by David Wiener and Grant Morrison, along with Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey, Co-presidents of Amblin Television. Wiener also serves as series showrunner. Owen Harris will be the director of the first two episodes and executive produce the series.  “The Capture,” tells the story of when soldier Shaun Emery’s conviction for a murder in Afghanistan is overturned due to insufficient video evidence. He is then freed and returns with his young daughter. But when footage captured in the streets of London are released, Shaun must soon fight for his freedom once again. From Heyday Television and NBCUniversal International Studios, a division of NBCUniversal Content Studios, “The Capture” is created, written and directed by Ben Chanan (“The Missing,” “The People Next Door”). The executive producers for the film are David Heyman, Rosie Alison, and Tom Winchester for Heyday Television, Tom Coan for NBCUniversal International Studios, Ben Irving for BBC One, and Ben Chanan. Derek Ritchie serves as Producer.

“Intelligence” is a workplace comedy set in the UK's Government Communications Headquarters. When a pompous maverick NSA agent, Jerry Bernstein comes over from the U.S. to join the team, he enlists an inept and tactless computer analyst, Joseph in a power grab that threatens to disrupt the team's ability to combat cyber terrorism. The show is produced by Expectation, created and written by Nick Mohammed, who also serves as Executive Producer with Nerys Evans for Expectation, David Schwimmer, and Morwenna Gordon for Sky. Tom Hodges serves as Co-Executive Producer. Charlie Leech is Producer and Matt Lipsey is Director. NBC Universal Global Distribution handles international rights on behalf of Sky Studios. In “Psych 2” Police Chief Carlton Lassiter is ambushed on the job and left for dead. In a vintage Psych-style Hitchcockian nod, he begins to see impossible happenings around his recovery clinic. Shawn and Gus return to Lassie’s side in Santa Barbara. Separated from their new lives in San Francisco, they find themselves unwelcome in their old stomping grounds as they secretly untangle a twisted case without anyone’s support. What they uncover will change the course of their relationships forever. “Psych 2” is a full-length film, written by Steve Franks, who also directed, Andy Berman and James Roday. Executive Producers are Steve Franks, Dulé Hill, James Roday, and Chris Henze.

“Curious George” was created by Margret and H.A. Rey in 1941. The animated series targets preschool viewers and follows the adventures of Curious George. With a focus on education, the Emmy award-winning program incorporates early concepts of academic subjects, such as math, science, technology, and engineering and encourages children to use their imagination and expand their investigations of the world. The Curious George voice cast includes Emmy award winner, Frank Welker, Jeff Bennett, and Rino Romano. Universal 1440 Entertainment, the original content production arm of Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, continues to develop and produce Curious George ensuring the timeless character continues to be easily accessible today and for many future generations to come.
