NBCUniversal is considering a $10-per-month fee for an ad-free version of its upcoming Peacock streaming service, and $4.99 for a version with limited advertising, according The Information.

In a presentation last week, Michael Cavanagh, CFO of Comcast, already poured water on recent rumors that Peacock will be free to all consumers. While he confirmed that its core business model will be ad-supported, he said it will be free “in certain circumstances”.

A $10 monthly fee would be more expensive than other SVODs such as Apple TV+ ($4.99) and Disney+ ($6.99), but cheaper than HBO Max ($15). Moreover, the rumored price points put Peacock at a lower-than or equal-to monthly rate compared to similar hybrid AVOD/SVOD services CBS All Access and Hulu. All Access charges $5.99/month for its service with limited ads and $9.99/month for its ad-free service, while Hulu charges $5.99/month for its service with ads and $11.99/month for its ad-free option.

Pricing and other questions about Peacock -set to launch in April 2020- will presumably be answered during the January 16, 2020 investor meeting that’s been announced by Comcast.
