Sky is launching its streaming platform Sky Stream in Germany on 31 July 2024. The offering bundles Sky channels and free TV channels, apps and streaming services on a single user interface. An internet connection and the Sky Stream Box are required for access; cable or satellite are not necessary.
The Sky Stream Box including the Sky Entertainment package with Netflix will be available including free TV in HD resolution, expandable with premium packages (Bundesliga, Sport, Cinema) and additional options. It also includes the media libraries of ARD, ZDF, RTL+, Joyn and ARTE, the KiKA player and third-party apps such as Disney+, Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV+. Following this launch, Sky Stream will become available in Austria from 2025.
Barny Mills, CEO of Sky Deutschland highlighted the customer experience: “With the launch of Sky Stream, we are opening a new, important chapter for our customers. The media landscape is becoming increasingly complex with its growing range of content, apps and different providers. Sky Stream is the perfect answer to this, as the innovative platform allows us to conveniently bundle everything in one place," explained.
“Sky Stream will permanently change the entertainment experience for our customers – it will be simpler, more intuitive and clearer than ever before. The launch of Sky Stream is both a significant milestone for Sky Deutschland and a long-term investment in the German market that will contribute significantly to our growth,” added Mills.
