"War Game"
The Network, the free ad-supported streaming platform known for premium originals, will release the gripping documentary "War Game" on Independence Day as A Network Original in association with Boat Rocker Studios and Anonymous Content. The Network has acquired the film from Boat Rocker, which handles worldwide distribution.
Directed by award-winning filmmakers Jesse Moss and Tony Gerber, the documentary chronicles a bipartisan group of U.S. defense, intelligence, and elected policymakers spanning five presidential administrations who participate in an unscripted role-play exercise. In it, they confront a political coup backed by rogue members of the U.S. military in the wake of a contested presidential election. Organized by Vet Voice Foundation, the documentary takes place in a simulated Situation Room, where participants explore the limits of presidential power in real time.
Directors Jesse Moss and Tony Gerber expressed their enthusiasm: "‘We’re excited that War Game is reaching new audiences through this recent partnership with The Network,’ ‘This film offers an urgent, behind-the-scenes look at a plausible political crisis, and we hope it continues to inspire reflection and dialogue about the complexities of leadership in moments of peril," commented.
"War Game", which is certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, features Gov. Steve Bullock of Montana as the U.S. President, Gen. Wesley Clark as the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Sen. Doug Jones as the Attorney General, and Sen. Heidi Heitkamp as Special Advisor to the President.
The film is produced by Todd Lubin, Jack Turner, and Mark DiCristofaro ("Billie Eilish: The World’s a Little Blurry", "Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields"), with Nick Shumaker ("Sanctuary") and Jessica Grimshaw ("A Wilderness of Error"). Warren Littlefield ("The Handmaid’s Tale", "Fargo", "The Old Man") executive produced the project for The Littlefield Company, along with Jonathan E. Steinberg and Dan Shotz (both "Black Sails", "The Old Man", "Percy Jackson and the Olympians") for Quaker Moving Pictures.
