Adler Entertainment and 39Films, in association with Nostos Screenwriting Lab, presents the first Writing Box Lab to happen in Arezzo, Tuscany from April 22 to 27. The lab will be led by Meg LeFauve (Oscar nominee for "Inside Out") and Joe Forte ("Firewall") and aims to position itself as an IP incubator that develops films, documentaries and TV series for the international market.

The residency in Tuscany will be a creative “agora”. The screenwriters involved in the projects that Writing Box is developing will have the opportunity to compare, discuss, refine their critical and storytelling skills through an in-depth 5-day program. The international mentorship of Meg LeFauve and Joe Forte will allow the Italian identity of the screenplays to be contaminated, making them suitable for competing on foreign markets.

"The world needs great stories now more than ever. Not only emotional stories, but technically excellent ones in a global marketplace where we as filmmakers must compete with so many other forms. At the Writing box lab in Arezzo, we will share our international experience with Italian authors. It’s an honour to be participating in the first edition of this screenwriting residence,” said Meg Lefauve.

UPCOMING PROJECTS
The screenwriters participating in the first Writing Box residence are: Laura Paolucci, Francesco Trento, Agustina Macri, Davide Lo schiavo, Adele Augruso, Giulia Pagnacco, Giaime Maccioni and Marco Cipriani.

Four projects will be developed in Arezzo, 3 films and 1 TV series. The films are "Azzardo", based on a book by Alessandra Mureddu (Einaudi) with a screenplay by Laura Paolucci and Agustina Macri, "Neppure un capello" with the screenplay by Francesco Trento in collaboration with Giaime Maccioni and Marco Cipriani, "Lella" (story by Lella Lombardi) with the screenplay by Francesco Trento, Adele Augruso and Agustina Macri and finally the TV series "The Prince" by Giulia Pagnacco and Davide Lo Schiavo.

"Our role is to help writers understand actionable techniques for not only engaging the viewer but holding their attention so that when the story starts it never lets them go — especially in an age of streaming where with the push of a button, the viewer can simply turn away….My love for the distinction and voice of Italian Cinema runs deep, it’s a pleasure to be participating in a screenwriting lab dedicated to helping to make Italian properties reach an international market. Anything Meg and I can do as filmmakers to help enlarge and further the tradition of Italian cinema is an honor and a privilege,” said Joe Forte.

Writing Box is a content factory of audiovisual products created by Alfredo Federico - producer of auteur films such as Elite Squad and The Burning Plain - and Simona Banchi - producer of films and documentaries such as "Fascisti su Marte" and "Viva Zapatero!" together with Marco Colombo and Mattia della Puppa of Adler Entertainment - producers of "ZUCCHERO - Sugar Fornaciari" and "Mogwai: If the Stars Had a Sound".
