“Sierra: El Álbum Mortuorio”
Bogotá-based filmmaker Carlos Ortiz Alarcón is taking his new feature "Sierra: El Álbum Mortuorio" to the global stage, with the project confirmed for Sitges Coming Soon 2025, part of the 58th edition of the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia (Oct. 9–19, 2025).
Produced by Cristian Gil Bayona under the 88 Films Productions banner, the psychological horror-thriller is already fully shot and now seeks post-production alliances and international visibility. The Sitges showcase is seen as a critical springboard toward its planned 2026 release.
Set in the fictional Pueblo Blanco, the narrative blends psychological horror and social commentary, reflecting on violence, fanaticism and corruption in rural Latin America. The plot unfolds around the disappearance of a young woman and the sinister forces—both human and supernatural—that emerge from a sect hidden within the town.
Ortiz Alarcón frames the film as a "mortuary album" of collective trauma, where moral collapse, religious manipulation and systemic abuse collide. “This isn’t just a genre film, it’s a mirror for our society,” he said.
The ensemble cast includes Eduar Kelvin Salas Burbano, Iván Vargas González, Manuela Soto Sarasa, Ángela María Mayorga Gómez, Jairo Arcila Idárraga, Giovanny Galindo Cuervo, Giancarlo Mendoza, Valeria Parada García, Marisol Correa Vega, Carlos Carrillo, David García and Liset Viviana Vargas Bernal.
Backing the project are CinemaTools, Boca de Dragón, Vox.in.Cinema, and Colombian film agency Proimágenes Colombia, which granted a waiver of inscription. Additional support comes from the Fondo de Desarrollo Cinematográfico (FDC), CNACC, DACMI, Colombia’s Ministry of Culture and DASC.
