Conecta Fiction & Eentertainment has announced the highlights of its ninth edition, set to take place from June 16 to 19, 2025, in Cuenca, Castilla-La Mancha. This year’s forum brings a broadened programme of 55 industry activities featuring nearly 100 speakers and unprecedented international representation from France and Canada as focus countries.

The announcement, made at a press conference in Madrid, underscored the growing strategic importance of Conecta in the international audiovisual landscape. Géraldine Gonard, Director of the event, noted that more than 50 companies from the focus countries will attend, marking “the largest professional presence ever at an international event held in Spain.” France and Canada stand out as leaders in multi-genre audiovisual exports—Canada being the second-largest global exporter on the American continent and France the top in Europe.

The event will feature new pitching categories tailored to market trends, including “Pitch Direct to Streaming Movies” and “Pitch Innova Formats,” aimed at platform-driven features and interactive content formats. Key players like The Wit, Glance, and Fabric will offer insight into content performance and audience trends across Europe and Latin America, while leading commissioners from major networks will outline their current programming needs.

One of the programme’s central innovations is the launch of “Pitch Talent,” a new initiative spotlighting emerging screenwriting voices. Backed by five prominent Spanish labs—Residencias Academia de Cine, IsLABentura Canarias, CIMA Impulsa, DAMA Ayuda, and ECAM’s La Incubadora—the initiative will feature five standout talents presenting their projects, followed by a panel moderated by Javier Olivares, creator of "The Department of Time" and "Isabel."

A major highlight of the agenda is the unveiling of “La Caza. Irati,” the fourth installment of the acclaimed "La Caza" franchise, produced by DLO Producciones. This psychological thriller, set in the Irati Forest and starring Megan Montaner, Félix Gómez, and Silvia Alonso, is slated for a 2025 premiere on Movistar Plus+. The series follows the success of the French adaptation “Rivière-Perdue” and is directed by Rafa Montesinos and Javier Pulido.

Conecta 2025 also introduces its first public-facing event, Conecta Fiction Fest, offering screenings and large-format premieres to local audiences. Organized in collaboration with the Consorcio de la Ciudad de Cuenca, the festival will run parallel to the industry conference and include titles such as “Zorro” (Paramount+ and France Télévisions), “The Incredible Story of Julia Pastrana” (Disney+), and “Favàritx,” the first series filmed on the island of Menorca.

Another key event is a panel on literary adaptations to screen, featuring María Contreras of Prime Video and Amazon Studios alongside bestselling authors Juan Gómez-Jurado, María Dueñas, and Manel Loureiro. Their works, including "Red Queen," "The Seamstress," and "Apocalypse Z," have achieved international success and will anchor discussions around the creative and commercial power of adapting literature to screen.

Regional authorities highlighted the economic impact of hosting Conecta. Ana Isabel Fernández, Director General of Tourism, Trade and Crafts for Castilla-La Mancha, noted that in 2024 the region handled 148 production inquiries, hosted 57 shoots, and expects a dozen more by mid-year. Cuenca will also use the event to announce the winners of its third Feature Film and TV Series Production Competition, awarding €100,000 to each selected project.

Backed by the Castilla-La Mancha Film Commission and organized by Inside Content, Conecta Fiction & Entertainment 2025 is set to deepen industry ties between Europe and the Americas while boosting the visibility of Spain—and particularly Cuenca—as a hub for international audiovisual production.
