C21 confirmed that its next market, Content LA, will run as a two-day event at the Fairmont Century Plaza on May 18 and 19, 2023, with a four-strand conference focusing on scripted, unscripted, FAST channels, and international programme sales and coproduction.
The 2023 event will move in alongside the LA Screenings Independents, which takes place at the same hotel from May 17 to 19. Moreover, the two-day conference will be surrounded by a development marketplace with meeting tables and screening rooms available for clients throughout the event.
According to its organizers, four key strands at Content LA 2023 will drive the conference programme:
▸ SCRIPTED
Building on its reputation for bringing the domestic US drama business together with international financiers to support fresh partnerships, Content LA will feature a core scripted strand running across the two days. Key writers, showrunners, producers, platforms and channels will feature in the line-up.
▸ UNSCRIPTED, FORMATS & FACTUAL
Unscripted content will form a key pillar of Content LA 2023, with a variety of sessions that connect the US business with the world.
▸ FAST CHANNELS
With FAST channels offering significant opportunities for international programme partners and suppliers, Content LA will include a dedicated strand covering this booming sector, with several sessions dedicated to better understanding and boosting business in FAST.
▸ INTERNATIONAL SALES & COPRODUCTION
With the global content business returning to a partnership model around sales and coproduction, Content LA will focus on the players that are driving this move back to a more traditional model and the shows they are looking to co-finance and package.
“Content LA provides a fantastic opportunity for the global content business to connect in LA in May, ahead of the studio screenings. By aligning with the LA Screenings Independents, we intend to create a significant market and conference experience that facilitates better connection between the US content business and the world,” said David Jenkinson, Editor-in-chief & Managing Director of C21.
