"Valentina"
Pink Parrot Media is the new sales agent for "Valentina", Spain's Abano Produciones new animated musical film, and has set the European Film Market (EFM) to introduce the film to global buyers. "Valentina" is a 3D/2D animated movie written, directed and produced by Chelo Loureiro and co-written by Lua Testa and tells the story of a girl who dreams of becoming a trapeze artist but struggles to believe it is possible because she has Down's syndrome. With her grandmother and Chiqui, her playful mouse best friend, Valentina's personal journey unfolds through songs and adventures.
"This story speaks of inclusion, diversity, growth, not losing hope and curiosity and, of course, unconditional love for grandmothers,” noted Tania Pinto Da Cunha, Partner / Vice-President, Head of International Sales. “This is a beautifully told magical journey, this film shares important values, colorfully spotlighting the way in which a young girl with Down syndrome learns, relates and evolves, not because she experiences a transformation, but because she gets to know herself and her potential. We really pride ourselves on bringing films of this caliber to audiences and are extremely excited to start introducing 'Valetina' to buyers at this year’s EFM.”
A co-production of Abano Produciones, Antaruxa, El Gatoverde Producciones, Sparkle Animation, with the participation of RTVE and RTVG, with the financing of the Government of Spain ICAA, "Valentina" has been subsidized by AGADIC-Xunta de Galicia, and the supported by Creates SGR, AFIGAL and the Provincial Councils of Pontevedra, Ourense and the City Council of Santiago.
The soundtrack is written by Nani García (co-author of the original soundtrack for "A Fantastic Woman," which won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film in 2017) and features songs from Emilio Aragón and singer-songwriter Andrés Suárez who also voices the father and the King.
"Valentina" features the renowned Galician lyrical voices such as María Manuela, Uxía and Pilocha, who give voices to songs and characters, as well as the young singer-songwriter Coke Couto (Alfil), Lúa Testa herself (Mama/Queen) and little Alicia Rábade. The voice of "Valentina" has been interpreted by the girls Lucía Seren (Galician version) and Josephine Lockhart (Spanish version), both with Down syndrome.
