Entidad de Gestión de Derechos de los Productores Audiovisuales (EGEDA) and Worldwide Audiovisual Women’s Association (WAWA) signed an agreement to work together towards mutual goals and interest in the audiovisual sector. Lead by Liliam Hernández, Founder and President of WAWA, and Miguel Ángel Benzal, General Director of EGEDA, priorities of the partnership include the promotion of Premios Platino, Mercado Platino Industia and platforms Platino Educa, Platino Empleo y Platino Crowdfunding.

Both WAWA, an active collaborative network that reinforces the role of women and their development in the audiovisual industry, and EGEDA, an entity that represents and defends the interests of audiovisual producers related to copyrights acknowledged and protected under the Leyes de Propiedad Intelectual, advocate for the creation and development of a gender equity and equality committee aimed at guaranteeing female representation in all their future activities and audiovisual projects.

EGEDA will facilitate WAWA’s presence and participation in their activities and is fully committed to seeking their partners’ support in defense of their rights at WAWA’s request. Meanwhile, WAWA is committed to supporting the collective management of audiovisual copyrights for the benefit of all audiovisual producers; seeking collaborative efforts to expand the use of the ISAN code; supporting the work by ARIBSAN in the audiovisual industry; as well as participating in the creation and promotion of Panorama Audiovisual across Ibero-American countries.

The Encuentro de Coproducción WAWA-EGEDA, held in March, kicked off the submission process for fiction projects, feature films and/or TV series that have already secured some form of funding.

WAWA participated in multiple Encuentros Platino Industria, 2020. In 2021, WAWA was featured in the activity program at the Iberseries Platino Industria (IPI), Ibero-America’s top audiovisual event.
