“Von Fock”
The Italian Global Series Festival (IGSF) was the perfect scenario to launch the international coproduction "Von Fock”, the TV series about detective Paul von Fock, that already has captivated audiences in Estonia. The co-producers from Alto Adige (Italy), movie.mento e albolina film, together with IDM (Film Commission Alto Adige), have introduced the new series and showcased Alto Adige as a premier film location in the event.
Filmed in the summer of 2024 across Estonia, Latvia, and Alto Adige, the eight-episode series has already enjoyed notable success: it premiered at the renowned Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF28) in Tallinn, aired for the first time in Estonia in the spring of this year, and immediately captivated audiences—becoming the most-watched TV series in the country with an impressive 30% share.
Alongside Estonian and Latvian production partners, Markus Frings (co-producer and managing director of movie.mento) and Wilfried Gufler from albolina film are thrilled with the series’ reception. "As co-producers, we managed the filming in Alto Adige and are responsible for distribution in Italy," explains Frings. "IGSF is a unique opportunity to present the series to national and international industry professionals, build valuable contacts in the audiovisual world, and, last but not least, promote Alto Adige as a film destination," Frings adds.
The official series launch was attended by crews from Estonia, Latvia, and Alto Adige, along with leading actors Aurora Ruffino (Italy) and Priit Pius (Estonia). The first two episodes of the series were screened to a select audience. “The event was attended not only by representatives from ZDF Studios, which handles international distribution, but also by content managers from major broadcasters and streaming platforms, including Sky, Netflix, Amazon, Mediaset, and Rai,” says Frings, who hopes to have a contract signed by the end of the year. At that point, it will also be confirmed when and on which channel the series will air in Italy.
The trailer for the series is already available online and promises gripping suspense in a historical thriller atmosphere. The series, developed with great attention to quality, was filmed in just 38 days across Estonia, Latvia, and Alto Adige.
Taking place for the first time in 2025, the IGSF aims to position itself—alongside the Venice Film Festival and the MIA – Rome International Audiovisual Market—as the third key event in the Italian audiovisual industry. The festival was created by the APA, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, to give greater visibility to TV series, which are becoming increasingly central in Italy’s television and streaming landscape.
