KO Distribution's series "FEM" produced by Patrick Bilodeau for UGO Média, has won in the Foreign Francophone Competition (over 20 minutes) at the 2024 Festival de la fiction in La Rochelle, an international television festival that has aimed to showcase and promote scripted series for the last 25 years.
"FEM" is the story of Zav, a 17-year-old aspiring hyperpop singer, who dreams of breaking into the music industry. Zav has long been questioning his gender identity, but inwardly, as he fears the repercussions of this questioning on his relationships with his family and his small-town community. His musical quest and his online life allow him to explore his femininity anonymously and vent his dysphoria, but his secret life can't stay hidden forever.
The series was directed by Marianne Farley and written by Maxime Beauchamp, Anne-Hélène Prévost, Camille Trudel, Joëlle Bond and William S. Messier.
