The 11th edition of MIA | Mercato Internazionale Audiovisivo (Rome, October 6–10, 2025) presents a comprehensive and diverse program designed to reinforce its role as a leading European and international platform for the audiovisual industry. With more than 80 events, including panels, conferences, seminars, workshops, training sessions, keynotes, round tables, and networking opportunities, this edition will highlight the evolution and future of the sector. The program also includes over 100 projects showcased across co-production markets and five major showcases featuring 44 Italian and international titles in Animation, Doc & Factual, Drama, and Film.

The event will once again feature the presentation of the annual APA and ANICA reports, offering an in-depth analysis of the Italian audiovisual industry and audience behaviors. New initiatives enrich this year’s agenda, such as the Book Adaptation Forum, designed to connect publishing and audiovisual industries, and the Innovation for Creative Industries program, focusing on AI, XR, and blockchain applications for the sector. Together with the MIA XR showcase, these elements highlight MIA’s commitment to future-oriented practices and the integration of new technologies in content creation and distribution.

Each of the four main divisions presents a focused program. The Animation Division explores trends ranging from licensing and publishing strategies to digital innovation and AI, with dedicated roundtables and the AnyShow showcase of animated projects near completion. The Doc & Factual Division underlines the international relevance of documentary and factual programming with global showcases and forums, alongside Italians Doc It Better, which once again presents world premieres of national productions. The Drama Division continues to be a global hub for serialized storytelling, with discussions on inclusive models, commissioning strategies, and sustainability, as well as the prestigious GREENLit showcase of upcoming international series. Finally, the Film Division highlights European cinema with the C EU Soon work-in-progress showcase, alongside panels on financing, distribution, and the future of independent voices.

Innovation and talent development are also key aspects of MIA 2025. The new Book Adaptation Forum presents 18 titles from Italian and international publishers, fostering collaboration between authors, producers, and distributors. Meanwhile, initiatives such as UNBOX | Short Film Days provide a dedicated space for emerging filmmakers moving from shorts to feature-length projects. In parallel, the Lazio Pitching Forum will promote new works from regional SMEs, underlining MIA’s support for local as well as international talent.

NEW AWARDS

Awards play a central role in this year’s edition. The MIA Development Awards will once again recognize excellence in Animation, Documentary, Drama, and Film projects from the Co-Production Market, while the Sony Pictures Television Award debuts, highlighting the best drama project. Other honors include the WIFTMI Award, focused on inclusion and representation, the Paramount New Stories Award for factual entertainment, the GEDI Visual Award for Italian documentaries, and the Screen International Award for European films.

International delegations from Latin America, Sweden, and Canada confirm the growing global resonance of MIA. Supported by Italian and European institutions and benefitting from strong sponsorships, MIA 2025 emphasizes its dual format, both in person in Rome and through its digital platform, ensuring accessibility and continuity beyond the event dates.

In its eleventh edition, MIA consolidates its role as a bridge between cultures, markets, and creative visions, reaffirming its mission to support innovation, diversity, and excellence in the audiovisual industry. This year’s program offers not only a rich agenda of professional encounters but also a forward-looking perspective on the future of storytelling and content distribution worldwide.
