ICEX Spain Export and Investment is organizing the Spanish involvement in Mipcom under the brand Audiovisual from Spain. The 37th edition of the global entertainment content market will be held in person at the Palais des Festival et des Congrès in Cannes, France, from October 11 to 14, 2021.
This year, Mipcom is marked by the physical return of production and distribution companies to the professional events circuit, although all companies have been offered the possibility of registering online due to inequalities between countries and continents due to the pandemic.
The Audiovisual from Spain stand includes 20 participating companies, six of which will exhibit their content in person: Anima Kitchent, Canary Islands Film, Onza Distribution, Puro Studio, Wild Stories Distribution, and Zona Mixta. Another six exhibiting companies are registered with the Spanish pavilion, and will participate with an exclusively-online presence: Filmax, Grupo Ganga Producciones, Mediterraneo Mediaset España, Proi Comunicación, and Zinkia Entertainment.
At the same time, other Spanish companies that will also be at Mipcom with separate booths include The Mediapro Studio, TVE, Motion Pictures, Planeta Junior, and the umbrella brands Basque Audiovisual and Catalan Films & TV. All of them will be located in adjacent areas within the Riviera Hall.
The unquestionable success of Spanish fiction in recent years on global platforms and the prestige of being one of the countries with the highest number of adaptations of series has made Spain one of the most important serialized content providers in the world. According to Teleformat, in recent years the Spanish industry has significantly increased the number of fiction series productions, going from nine releases in 2016 to 32 in 2019, and reaching a record number of 45 new series released in 2020. So far in 2021, 21 new series created and produced in Spain have already been released.
