"The Lost City: 101 Days in Captivity"
Yes Studios to launch the premium factual title "The Lost City: 101 Days in Captivity" at next MIPCOM Cannes. The new three-part documentary series is produced by Paramount’s Ananey Studios for yes Docu, marking yes Studios’ second collaboration with Ananey Studios, following the announcement of a new scripted series, "Wonder", earlier this year.
"The Lost City: 101 Days in Captivity", which premieres on yes Docu on 19th September, draws on recent events to tell the remarkable true story of kidnapping, survival and their enduring impact. In 2003, four young Israelis took a trip to South America. Together with four foreign travellers they met along the way, they decided to go on the ultimate trek - to "The Lost City" in Colombia. Within 48 hours, they were kidnapped by the ELN, a notorious guerrilla organization that held them for 101 days in the heart of the Colombian jungle.
Twenty years later, still bearing scars from the incident - and as the dozens of Israelis who were kidnapped to Gaza activate their triggers - they meet, for the first time, the leader of the organization that kidnapped them to try and get answers to the questions that have been bothering them all these years.
Sharon Levi, managing director of yes Studios says: “This compelling and chilling documentary series provides a fascinating insight into what it is like to be kidnapped, along with the long-term physical and psychological impacts of the former hostages’ survival journey."
"The Lost City: 101 Days in Captivity" was produced using material filmed in real-time, personal diaries written in captivity, and conversations with the protagonists in English, Spanish, German, and Hebrew.
The series was created by the award-winning documentarian Ofir Trainin ("Wandering Eyes") and Omri Kronland, Ananey Studios’ documentary and non-scripted content editor-manager and author of the novel "The Place Where the Sun Begins".Ofir Trainin is the series’ director, with Keren Gleicher, Guy Lavie and Uzi Karin as executive producers for yes, and Orly Atlas-Katz and Osnat Saraga as executive producers for Paramount’s Ananey Studios.yes Studios is the international distributor.
