Aggressive TV is making its long-form television debut at MIPTV with the 6-part sci-fi adventure series “Escape Attempt,” based on the renowned novel by the acclaimed Soviet science fiction authors Arkady and Boris Strugatsky. “We feel that the unique tone of Escape Attempt becomes more relevant in the world of today,” one of the founders of Aggressive TV, Daniel Shapiro, said. “Our current universe is full of anxiety, and sometimes we need to explore our own ways to possibly escape.”

The New York-based creative agency behind such innovative advertising campaigns as AMEX Unstaged and Acura By Design,  will present the title, serving as the first anthology of several limited series based on sci-fi novels from the same period. The pilot episode of “Escape Attempt” has just completed post-production and will be available to screen for potential co-production and pre-acquisition partners at MIPTV.

The company has curated the most relevant work of the era. “Aggressive TV is bringing its distinctive vision to long-form drama for the first time,” Gary Marenzi, who will be available at the event's Stand #R7.K13, commented. “Escape Attempt is a breath-taking and cerebral thriller that we are proud to be representing on the global stage.”

The Strugatsky Brothers’ sweeping story was written during the Cold War era, when working under authoritarian pressure, artists were able to create poignant, rich sci-fi domains with characters facing emotionally charged existential dilemmas. “Escape Attempt” (6 x 45) follows the fates of Saul, Ana and Vadim and the mystery of the world they have discovered. The series is built around answering questions raised by the novella, set within the Strugatsky brothers’ Noon Universe, their extensive intergalactic mythology for the XXIInd century. Internationally recognized, the work of the Strugatsky Brothers has inspired films from Cameron’s “Avatar” to Tarkovsky’s “Stalker.”
