ORF Enterprise featured its Universum History Showcase 2021

The Austrian distributor made a virtual event to present new documentaries with strong female characters and intriguing topics.

The Austrian distributor ORF Enterprise provided insights into the world of universal history highlights of this year in its Universum History Showcase 2021. The company featured an exciting range of new documentaries with intriguing topics and fresh approaches.

Carolina Haidacher, Head of Universum History, mentioned that this year was very difficult in terms of production because there was a long lockdown on Vienna, but filmmakers and producers did their work on time. "I'm really happy with these new launches and very proud to be able to present our productions today. The point in common of all the productions is a focus on strong female characters and diversity and a multi perspective approaches to these respective historical events".

The first productions presented by ORF Enterprise was "Victims of the Vikings" (52', 44') that was broadcasted at the beginning of this year on ORF and "The Salt Saga. White Gold of the Alps", a co-production by ORF, BR, ZDF/ARTE and Degn Film in association with ORF-Enterprise that was a huge success on ORF.

The Austrian company also showed "Venus of Willendorf - The Naked Truth" (52 min), a co-production by ORF, ZDF/ARTE and epo-film and "The Rothschild Legacy", A co-production by ORF, ZDF/Arte and Metafilm.

Finally, ORF unveiled "1278 – Battle for Europe" (45', 52') coproduced by ORF, ZDF/ARTE, Česká televize and Interspot Film and "Augustus and Livia - Empire of Blood" (52 min), a co-production by ORF, ZDF/Arte, Interspot Film and Gruppe 5.

"All the titles will be available for screening in the following next months, so we are looking forward to many deals in 2022", said Armin Luttenberger, Head of Content Sales International at ORF-Enterprise.
