"Angel’s Trumpets" doubled its success at the 44th Hungarian Film Festival. The series, developed and produced by Paprika Studios, won the awards for best director and best cinematography in the festival's TV series category. The idea for the series came from Kata Besenyei, the director was Ildikó Enyedi (director of the Oscar-nominated and Golden Bear-winning film On Body and Soul), and the cinematographer was Júlia Vaszari.
"Angel’s Trumpets" was broadcast in October 2023 on the TV channel RTL and on the online streaming platform RTL+. In the absence of the winners, the awards were accepted by the creator Kata Besenyei and Paprika Studio’s CEO, Ákos Erdős: "I am very proud that the winning idea of a young talent at the Hypewriter Pitch Forum has led to such a promising pilot project, which has been also recognized by the industry. Working with Ildiko Enyedi was an unparalleled experience. Her creativity and determination, coupled with a rare kindness and warmth of heart, were truly inspiring for the pilot project. Now we have taken another step towards the full realization of the series," commented.
The story of "Angel’s Trumpets" is set in Viharsarok (a rather deprived area in Hungary), where the protagonists Anna and Jasmin, survivors of human trafficking living in a safe house, find out that Jasmin's 15-year-old sister Bella may have been trafficked abroad, whereupon they flee to rescue her and take revenge on the mafia.
