Pedralonga Estudios officially launched operations of "Coruña Estudio Inmersivo" (CEI), Spain’s most technologically advanced virtual studio, during the 2025 San Sebastian Film Festival. The presentation event, held at the Maria Cristina Hotel, was led by Fernanda Tabarés, President of Pedralonga Estudios, and attended by Valentín González Formoso, President of Deputación da Coruña, and Alfonso Blanco, President of the Galician Audiovisual Cluster (CLAG), highlighting the strategic public-private partnership that brought CEI to life.
González Formoso reinforced CEI’s strategic value, calling it “an infrastructure that connects two key sectors for the future of Galicia: media and technology,” and projected it as a magnet for both local and international productions.
CEI, described as the "virtual soundstage with the best technical equipment in Spain," is located in A Coruña’s Cidade das TIC and managed by Pedralonga Estudios S.L., a company created in 2024 by CLAG, the University of A Coruña, and ten leading Galician firms. The €5 million investment was co-financed by Deputación da Coruña and the Spanish Government through the Next Generation EU Funds.
In a video message, Jesús Herrero, CEO of Red.es, emphasized CEI as “a great example of public-private collaboration to promote the media industry,” noting its relevance beyond the financial contribution. “The virtual production revolution is no longer a promise for the future—it is a reality thanks to projects like this one,” he said.
Alfonso Blanco stated that CEI will benefit the broader Spanish production services industry. “Pedralonga Estudios and CEI complete a perfect cocktail that positions Galicia as the ideal filming destination,” he said, citing the region’s three-decade audiovisual legacy, skilled professionals, and generous co-production incentives.
Fernanda Tabarés detailed CEI’s specifications, which include a 750 sqm virtual set equipped with a 28x6 meter LED wall and 1.9 pixel pitch definition, within a total 2,000 sqm space. Two additional soundstages of 2,500 sqm and 2,000 sqm are currently under construction and slated for 2026. “Our shared goal is to offer the ultimate technology at the service of creativity and industry at competitive prices,” she said.
The event concluded with remarks from José Manuel Deus, Managing Director of Pedralonga Estudios, who invited attendees to a networking cocktail attended by over 100 professionals, institutional representatives, and international media executives.
