For its 19th edition, The Children’s Media Conference  will be returning to Sheffield in its physical form, with a virtual version also set to be available from Tuesday 5 – Thursday 7 July 2022. “Back in 2018 the theme for CMC was 'What's Next?’ – who’d have thought that just four years on we'd revisit it in a 2.2 updated version, because basically everything has changed,” Greg Childs OBE, Editorial Director at CMC, said.

Both in-person and online tickets for CMC 2022 will go on sale in April. For the live event, early bird tickets will be priced at £360 + VAT and self-funded at £265 + VAT. Online only passes will have an early bird rate of £130 + VAT and self-funded rate of £100 + VAT. “It's been a rollercoaster ride for creatives, producers, broadcasters and platforms and, most importantly, for audiences over the last few years, and it may well not be letting up for some time to come," Childs said.

The first hybrid event follows the success of its virtual conferences in 2020 and 2021, and will see a packed agenda of keynotes, masterclasses and panels tackling the urgent issues facing the children’s media industry and young audiences. This year’s event will be themed ‘What Next 2.2’ and will play host to a wide range of broadcasters, co-producers, funders and investors from across the world. “All the more reason for us to come together once again to consider where all this is taking us, how the industry responds to the seismic changes, and how we can best continue to serve kids and young people in these uncertain times," Childs continued.

For the first time ever, the conference’s sessions and networking events will take place at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, from which all live sessions will also be streamed to CMC’s online platform. Both online and in-person delegates will also have access to an extensive library of VOD content covering the breath of children’s media, with topics including: Learning, research insights in “Understanding Kids”, the ever-popular “Art of…” strand, business insights on specific territories, personal creative journeys in “Back to the Beginning” and presentations by CMC’s young speakers: the Changemakers.

The organization will then host a free webinar on Monday 27 June for newcomers to the industry and the conference titled “Get In and Get On” as well as a SkillBuilder pitching workshop on Tuesday 28 June. CMC’s hugely popular International Exchange virtual market, which plays host to broadcasters, co-producers, funders and investors from across the world keen to meet sellers of content and services, will also precede the conference on Thursday 30 June.

All the more reason for us to come together once again to consider where all this is taking us, how the industry responds to the seismic changes, and how we can best continue to serve kids and young people in these uncertain times.” Greg Childs OBE, Editorial Director, CMC
