Java Films features around 35 new titles for fall season

Founded in 2005 by Roch Bozino, Java Films rapidly established itself as one of Europe’s leading independent distributors, providing pre-sales and distribution for documentaries. "We're in a very-unique position because we have lots of new titles in every market," said Kathryn Bonnici, Head of Acquisitions & Development. The French sales company has around 35 new titles in its autumn catalogue and one of the outstanding titles is “Click Bet (90&52') produced by Magneto Presse and commissioned by ARTE. The film reveals the ugly truth behind the gambling predatory industry. Java Films is also pushing “Ukraine-Inside the counter offensive” (52') that has really incredible footage on inside the trenches in Ukraine, "footage that we've never seen before," commented Bonnici.



Inside the series offer, Java Films presents the three-part series “Hezbollah Inc.”, a three-part series on Vladimir Putin and his poisoning campaigns titled “Poison(s)”, and a three-part series on a mysterious prisoner who died in Israel called "Prisoner X". "I would like to add two more relevant titles 'Your Face is yours: The dangers of Facial Recognition Software' (52,), a big investigation about Clearview produced and commissioned by France 24 and “Turning childhood into content: The dangers of ‘Sharenting’” (52') produced by Babel Doc & Together Media and commissioned by France 5," indicated Donatien Pierda, Sales Manager.



CLIENTS NEEDS
Bonnici affirmed that Java Films' clients want programs that resonate and have a relevance to their audience. "If they want current affairs, they really need to be about what's in the news, and we're very lucky because we have an extensive library on current affairs," she mentioned. For instance, Java Films already had a documentary on Russian Group Wagner prepared, so when the leader of the Wagner group was killed, the company had the title ready.

On the other hand, "they want films on the big trends of tomorrow that they kind of were aware of, but not really understood," she said. For example, the documentary “Turning childhood into content: The dangers of ‘Sharenting” is the first documentary on how it impacts children the fact that their parents are sharing photos of them on social media. "We always try and think about what people are going to be looking for in the future," Bonnici asserted.
