SVOD subscriptions for 138 countries will increase by 591 million between 2020 and 2026 to reach 1.495 million – or up by 65%, according to a new report from Digital TV Research.
Digital TV Research forecasts 15 million more pay TV subscribers between 2020 and 2026 to take the global total to 1.02 billion. Between 2020 and 2026, 92 countries will add pay TV clients, while 46 countries will lose subscribers.
Global revenues from OTT television episode and movies will reach $210 billion in 2026, up from $106 billion on 2020, according to Digital TV Research, which also confirms that about $23 billion of that total will be added in 2021 alone.
The distribution deal covers theatrical releases set between 2022-2026. The titles will first be released in theaters, then available for rental or purchase and lastly on streaming services, starting with Netflix and ending with Disney and Hulu.
