Disney+ will be the home of the UEFA Women’s Champions League across Europe from next season, allowing fans to watch every match live at no extra cost. The announcement follows a five-year deal in which The Walt Disney Company has secured live rights to the competition from 2025/26 to 2029/30.
Women directed 46% of animated shorts in France in 2023 but only 27% of feature films, up from 21% in 2013. At Annecy 2025, 48% of Mifa Pitch projects are led by women, yet just 17% of Official Feature Film directors are female.
The new channel will feature new weekly matches from "WOW – Women Of Wrestling" and the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), along with an extensive library of content including classic episodes, never-before-seen matches, specials, and documentaries.
With 80% of UK fans following both men’s and women’s sports and 47% of Europeans interested in women’s football, demand is clear. Yet media rights remain bundled or undervalued, leaving significant revenue potential unrealized across digital and broadcast platforms.
The simultaneous launch will allow millions of households across Latin America to enjoy this production on two complementary platforms: Kanal D Drama, the Spanish-language channel and SVOD app for Turkish dramas, and Lifetime, a multi-platform entertainment brand created by and for women.
