Sony will retain rights to home entertainment, linear TV, and Chinese exhibition. The “Hotel Transylvania” franchise has grossed $1.3 billion in theaters worldwide since the first film’s debut in 2012.
The deal, intended to allow the company an exclusivity period of a month and a half, will apply to select films scheduled to debut next year, such as “The Batman,” “Black Adam,” “The Flash,” among others.
The production division will now form part of Mediawan's theater division. The company's slate of titles include “The Three Musketeers” firm Chapter 2, “Call My Agent."
