Nordic SVoD households have more SVoD subscriptions than their European peers, with Sweden and Denmark having an average of 2.6 SVoD services per SVoD household and Norway having 2.4, according to Ampere’s Q3 2020 consumer survey.
According to the European Audiovisual Observatory, for the 2010 – 2020 period (when the European Union sill included the UK), the paid VOD markets saw SVOD and TVOD revenues increasing from €388.8 million in 2010 to €11.6 billion in 2020.
There are 121 million TV households for the 2020-2021 TV season. For ages 18-34 year-olds, the increases were 20% to 42%, a 110% increase year over year. Over 40% of total content viewers over the age of 18 now engage in the increasing trend.
In its full 2020-year report, Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group) confirmed that Viaplay hit its target of 3 million subscribers, with 33% year-over-year growth and 207.000 new subscribers during the fourth quarter.
