According to Digital TV Research, pay TV subs will fall by 8 million from 2018 to 2029. However, 2018 included 17 million analog cable subscribers, which will drop to zero by 2027.
A report by Digital TV Research revealed that 14 of the 18 countries are expected to see a decline in Pay TV subs as of 2029. However, IPTV is set to gain 1 million subscribers at this time.
The data comes from a study by the research firm Emarketer. Netflix continues to lead, but Disney's combination of companies is closing in on it. The OTT revenues will surpass traditional pay TV subscription revenues in 2025 for the first time.
