This marks The North Road’s first major move in LatAm and adds to its international interests following the pick-up of Turkish drama producer Karga Seven Pictures last year.

The feature film, directed by Walter Salles, is competing in the Best Picture, Brazil’s first time in this category, Best International Feature Film, from which the country has been absent since "Central Station" (1998), also by Salles, and Best Actress in a Leading Role with Fernanda Torres.

Co-created by Henrique Cymerman and Netanel Semrik, "The Cunios" will be produced by Anima Films. Executive producers include Julian Rousso, Sebastian Gamba, and Matia Gueilburt of Anime Films, Henrique Cymerman, Contento Now’s Netanel Semrik, alongside KI’s Keren Shahar and Kelly Wright. 

BIG Media, which has offices in the US, UK, Czech Republic, Germany and India, produce high-end unscripted content for the international market. The company recently announced the renewal of their output deal with ZDF Studios.

The series is scheduled to debut in 2025 on ABC in Australia, DR in Denmark, and Télé-Québec in French-speaking Canada.
