The 2022 global console gaming market declined by 7.8% (constant currency -2.1%) to US$56.2 billion, down from US$60.9 billion in 2021, Ampere Analysis noted in its latest report.
36% of US consumers play console games, about the same as in 2019 (33%), but the engagement among those who do play is much higher, as 51% play every day, up from just 39% two years ago, according to Hub Entertainment Research.
The second quarter of 2021's big sell-through winner was Microsoft, with global sales of Xbox Series X|S consoles increasing 16% quarter-on-quarter to 1.35 million, according to data from Ampere Analysis.
