Julie Burguburu joins Tf1 Group as General Counsel

The executive will be responsible for institutional relations and for regulatory matters, along with legal affairs and issues relating to governance, compliance, professional conduct, and ethics.

Julie Burguburu has been appointed as General Counsel of TF1 group with effect from 1 January 2023, when she will also join the Executive Committee. She succeeds Didier Casas, who has been appointed as General Counsel of the Bouygues group. She will be responsible for institutional relations and for regulatory matters, along with legal affairs and issues relating to governance, compliance, professional conduct, and ethics.

Julie Burguburu was born in 1975, studied at the Ecole Nationale d'administration, and is a graduate of Sciences Po Paris. She also holds a Master of Advanced Studies in General Private Law from the University of Paris I Panthéon-Assas, and a Master in International Relations and International Economics from the Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University, Washington DC.

A member of the Conseil d’Etat, Julie Burguburu served for nine years (2003-2010, 2017-2019), primarily in the claims and litigation section. From 2010 to 2014, she served as Vice President of Veolia China in Shanghai, with responsibility for transformation. Julie Burguburu has also held a number of managerial roles within the French government. From 2014 to 2016, she was Deputy Chief of Staff to Claude Bartolone, the President of the National Assembly; she then served in the same role for Bernard Cazeneuve from 2016 to 2017, during his time first as Minister of the Interior and then as Prime Minister.

In March 2019, she was appointed General Counsel of Eutelsat, where she was responsible for all aspects of governance, compliance, and legal affairs, alongside institutional and international affairs. A Knight of the National Order of Merit, Julie Burguburu is also a former commission member at the IHEDN, a French defense think tank, where she took part in the 71st defense policy session. She is a Board member of a number of non-profits, including the Paris Museum of Decorative Arts, and sits on the Board of the French Competition Authority. She is also a reservist in the French Air Force, holding the rank of Colonel as a member of the ADER network.
