ABC has officially ordered a pilot for the new spin-off of The Rookie, titled “The Rookie: North,” with lead actor Jay Ellis attached. The project comes from creator Alexi Hawley together with production studios Lionsgate TV and 20th Television.

New four-part series produced by Lingo Pictures, a subsidiary of ITV Studios, to spotlight the human toll of $1.8 billion in unlawful government debt notices.

The deal includes international distribution of the 6-part series produced by Easy Tiger for ABC Australia, featuring Michael Dorman and Liv Hewson and based on Chris Hammer’s bestselling novel.

The Helium Pictures and New Mac production is developed and produced in association with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, with development assistance and production funding from Minderoo Pictures.

The agreement restores Disney’s full suite of channels—including ESPN and ABC—to YouTube TV’s 10 million subscribers after a blackout beginning 30 October, and ensures ESPN content will be included on the base plan by end of 2026.
