Pay‑TV subscriptions rose to 15.2 million while SVoD reached 22.1 million homes; revenues up ~6% to €5.5bn in 2024 with VAUNET forecasting €5.8bn for 2025.
TV advertising is projected to rise 1.2% to €3.74 billion, while streaming and VOD will see a 6.9% increase to €1.7 billion. Digital audio leads audio growth at 4.4%, reflecting shifting advertiser priorities.
In their new roles, they will report to Alex Hamilton, Chief International Officer Studiocanal and replace Kalle Friz who, after 16 years, will leave the company in July.
The new launch follows the arrival of the service in France on December 1st and establishes a year of global expansion as the service is now live in 45 markets.
Over the last 12 months, the German subscription video on demand market has managed to grow household penetration by just +0.9% points, hitting 51.3% in the first quarter of 2022, according to Kantar.
