A+E Media Group Korea announced the global distribution and worldwide premiere of a new original scripted Korean series, “The Witch,” based on the webtoon of the same name from Korean artist, Kang-full. The announcement was made by Youngsun Soh, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of A+E Korea.

Set to premiere February 15 on a variety of platforms in the U.S., Europe and Asia, including A+E Korea’s Lifetime, this drama is the third webtoon from artist Kang-full to be adapted into a scripted drama. His original webtoon, “Moving,” achieved global megahit status as a Disney+ original in 2023.

“The Witch” (10x60’) stars Park Jin Young (“Yumi’s Cells 2,” “The Devil Judge”) as Dong-jin, the only man who doesn’t give up on his pursuit of romance with the Witch. Park, a well-known member of Korea’s sensational boy band GOT7, is a global star boasting 9.3 million Instagram followers and 6.2 million subscribers to the GOT7 YouTube channel.

Roh Jeong-eui (“Our Beloved Summer,” “18 again”) co-stars as Park Mi-jeong, a high school student nicknamed "The Witch" due to the misfortunes that befall those who fall in love with her. Roh is a rising star who most recently showcased her talent in the drama series “Hierarchy” and “Our Beloved Summer.”

“The Witch” features Dong-jin, a data miner who leads a successful life but harbors lingering feelings for his childhood friend, Mi-jeong. In high school, Mi-jeong was tormented and labeled a witch, especially after a classmate who expressed interest in her died under mysterious circumstances. Despite his desire to support her, Dong-jin's passive nature prevented him from offering comfort. He refused to believe in the so-called curse, attributing the events to coincidence. Mi-jeong, overwhelmed by guilt, left school, leaving Dong-jin with a sense of indebtedness.

Determined to prove her innocence, Dong-jin immersed himself in statistics throughout college, hoping to debunk the myth surrounding Mi-jeong. Years later, a chance encounter on the subway reunites them. Observing that Mi-jeong still struggles with the same challenges, Dong-jin resolves to unravel the mystery surrounding her, even if it means leaving his job behind.

"We are thrilled to collaborate with esteemed artist Kang-full on dramatizing his hit webtoon at A+E. ‘The Witch,’ is a series that masterfully intertwines romance and mystery, offering a fresh narrative that will captivate audiences worldwide,” said Soh. “At A+E Media Group Korea, we are dedicated to investing in and producing Korean content that resonates globally, and ‘The Witch’ exemplifies this commitment."
