8 STAR Entertainment has launched Delta Star Pictures’ internationally acclaimed feature film "Joachim and the Apocalypse" in the USA The theatrical release premiered exclusively at Laemmle’s NoHo 7 on October 17 and will run until October 23, 2025.
Set in 1202 A.D. on the eve of the Fourth Crusade, "Joachim and the Apocalypse" delves into the final hours of Abbot Joachim, a mystic and theologian whose visions, spiritual writings, and prophetic insights continue to echo through the centuries. As snow falls silently in the mountains, Joachim — accompanied by his disciple, Friar Matthaeus — relives a journey that began 47 years prior, unveiling revelations of light amidst encroaching darkness.
Known for his unparalleled gift of interpreting sacred scripture, Joachim was granted the rare "licentia scribendi" by Pope Lucius III to write freely on the Apocalypse. Despite opposition from religious authorities, his works became some of the most widely read on the subject, culminating in a final prophecy offering a glimmer of hope for future generations.
The film explores the profound, prophetic ideas of a man whose thought continues to reverberate through centuries of religious, philosophical, and artistic expression. Dante Alighieri placed him in Paradise (Canto XII) as one "endowed with a prophetic spirit." Montaigne, Hegel, Joyce, and Michelangelo were all touched by his legacy. Even Pope Francis, in his World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation message, cited Joachim for having “articulated the ideal of a new spirit.”
Blending breathtaking visuals, the film was shot in ultra-high resolution 12K and will screen in 4K format. It also incorporates elements of Chromotherapy and Theta Wave audio frequencies—used to activate deeper layers of consciousness and promote introspection and emotional resonance in the viewer. The film blends historical realism with metaphysical vision, offering viewers a rare cinematic experience that is both intellectual and emotional.
Directed by Jordan River the film has garnered critical praise for its visionary storytelling, cinematographic mastery, and meditative pacing inviting viewers to reflect on the apocalyptic nature of every era — and the hope that lies beyond.
