Annecy Mifa 2023: Mediawan Kids & Family announces new partnerships

During the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, Mediawan Kids & Family hosted a press conference, where the company announced new partnerships with Warner Bros. Discovery and DeAPlaneta Entertainment, and the co-development of a brand-new magical show.

In detail, the company is partnering with Warner Bros. Discovery EMEA for the production and distribution of the new series “Karters” on both linear and non-linear services of the group in the region. Moreover, Mediawan Kids & Family is partnering with DeAPlaneta Entertainment to boost the development of its licensing and merchandising. First, with the “Karters” brand for which DeAPlaneta Entertainment will be the exclusive worldwide master licensing agent, as well as coproducer of the TV series and its distributor in various territories. Then, with “Witch Detectives” and “The Three Musketeers” (Method Animation) as worldwide licensing agent. “Witch Detectives” is the brand-new magical show that Mediawan Kids & Family will be co-developing with TF1 and Super RTL.

Furthermore, the group said that "its talents continue to strive to offer an ever more diverse range of premium programs to enchant both kids and families."  For example, at Method Animation with new originals and IP adaptations, such as “Taïtikis,” a new original preschool universe by Romuald, “PJ Masks” creator; “Anansi,” a new action-adventure series in partnership with Diprente in South Africa; and “Banana Sioule,” a new young adult series created by Michaël Sanlaville.

Meanwhile, Elliott Studio, the company’s studio specialized in live-action shows for youth and family, adapted the duo Boule & Bill into a mixed-media series in coproduction with DEMD Productions (Mediawan Studio France). Somewhere Animation, on the other hand, announced 2D projects such as “Chefclub Adventures” and the new comedy-adventure series based on the massively multiplayer creature collection game “Temtem” (in coproduction with Marla Studios).

At the same time, the two international labels that recently joined the group, Wildseed Studios and Submarine also have news: Wildseed Studios with the production of “Dodo 2” and the development of “Tuffpom,” and “Submarine” with the development of a new preschool IP: “Max the Brave.” Lastly, the company announced that Mediawan Kids & Family Cinema is developing and producing ambitious feature films “Young Vincent” (Submarine), “The Magnificent Life of Marcel Pagnol,” “Miraculous The Movie” (in coproduction with ZAG), and many more.

Regarding sales, Mediawan Kids and Family Distribution is managing a rich-content catalog of 2.500 half hours of programs produced within the group and third-party acquisitions. During the press conference, the company announced that it will distribute the second season of “Dogmatix and the Indomitables” as well as the spicy adult animation series “Dickie.”
